Protest staged at Soorinje demanding immediate arrest of Keshava Shetty murderers.

Mangaluru, January 7: Urging immediate arrest of the murderers and also the offenders involved in drug trafficking, a protest was staged by people by placing the body of Keshava Shetty, amidst the road near Soorinje fort on Monday, January 6th. Keshava Shetty, was murdered during the early morning on Monday, January 6th by a group of four strangers who had masked their face.

Vishnuvardhan, Deputy Commissioner of police, arrived at the spot and after receiving memorandum form the protestors assured the protestors of forming a special workforce within the commissionerate to regulate mafia activities including drug traffickers and informed that the workforce will begin its operations from Suratkal.

Satyajit Suratkal, leader of Hindu organizations, addressing the protestors said that drugs are widely being sold in various places including Chokkabettu, Krishnapura, Katipalla, Soorinje etc, due to which has spoilt the life of youth. He also urged the police department to take stringent action to curb this nuisance.

M A Nataraj, Suratkal-SHO, said that measures are being initiated to book drug sellers under Goonda Act.

Ravikumar- Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Lokesh, Panambur-SHO, Suratkal sub-inspector- Ravishankar, and Kumaresh had arrived to the protest venue.

Jagadish Adhikari-BJP district vice-president, Sucharita Shetty- BJP unit president -Moodbidre, Eshwar Kateel-ZP member, and Ashok Krishnapura- BJP leader were present among others.
