Mental harassment by ACP; Cop complains

Mangalore, May 22: An assistant sub inspector, Srikala KT has lodged a complaint against Jagannath, ACP, Mangalore south, of harassment to the police commissioner on May 22, Wednesday.

She alleged that Jagannath was mentally harassing her by not granting her leave and using abusive language.

According to Srikala’s statement, she wanted leave for six days starting from May 25 and ACP Jagannath was not granting her leave and  which forced her to lodge a complaint to the police commissioner, Manish Kharbikar, who in turn granted her leave.

Srikala also claimed that she has also forwarded a complaint to women’s commission.

Responding to the complaint of ASI, Police commissioner Manish Karbikar clarified that issue of complaint has been sorted out.

Referring to the complaint, the police commissioner Manish Karbikar ruled out any sexual harassment as there was any word mentioning about it or anything to that effect in the complaint letter submitted to him.

Defending ACP’s stand,Jagannath said that ‘we grant leave only one day before of a person goes on leave. When he was trying to convince her about the leave procedure, the ASI went to the commissioner and complained of mental harassment.

ASI Srikala, who had twenty years of service in the department and has been serving under the present ACP since 18 months.
