Kundapur, December 23: Distressed over the marital dispute, a woman has committed suicide by consuming poison at her residence in Jadkal.
The deceased has been identified as Mini Mathew (28).
Mini was working as a teacher in Akkodu. Her husband Wilson is an electrician. The couple have two sons Michael (5) and Melwin (3).
As per a complaint lodged by Mini’s father Mathew M J of Shivamogga, a marital dispute pushed her into taking the extreme step. In the complaint, Mathew states that Mini, the youngest of his four children, was married to Wilson of Jadkal five years ago on January 26th, 2009.
On Sunday night December 21st, Mini had spoken to her father over the phone and talked as usual. She also revealed to her father that she had got the salary. But around mid day of December 22nd, he got the news that his daughter was in a serious condition, and by the time the family came from Shivamogga, she had already passed away, states the complaint.
Mini’s father expressed suspicions that Mini was harassed by her husband, and that there could be no other reason for her to end her life. He also claimed that Mini used to say Wilson would frequently consume intoxicants.
Tahsildar Gayatri Nayak visited the Kundapur government hospital mortuary where the body was kept and inquired about the case.
A case has been lodged with Kollur police.
