Mangaluru, December 20: Christmas celebration was organized on Friday December 19th at Catholic Sabha Mangaluru along with members of various organizations at Bishop’s House in the city.
Mahabala Maarla, Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation addressing the audience said, “For a better and peaceful society, people should follow the principles of Jesus Christ. We should cultivate helping nature and live in harmony. If the thoughts of Jesus Christ are inculcated in our daily lives, we can expect to have a better society”, he added.
Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, president- SCDCC, said, “Christmas celebration is significant in spreading the message of peace all over the world. Society will move forward when we follow the policy of ‘live and let live”.
He damned the brutal act on the school children in Pakistan’s Peshawar and said, “The world can expect a better future only through peace. We should live for others”.
Zohra Abbas, member of Beary Sahithya Academy stressed on the need for communal harmony in the district. She said, accept the good in everyone and lead a peaceful harmonious life.
Alyosius Paul D’ Souza, bishop of Mangalore diocese in his address said, “Jesus Christ lived for everyone by preaching love, peace, and humanity to the world. One can see god in the service offered to the poor. ‘Share what you have’ is the philosophy of god. Love and respect everyone. All are children of god”.
M P Norohna -Advocate, Flavy D’Souza- Catholic Sabha president, Msgr Denis Prabhu- vicar general and others were present during the celebration.
