Two day National workshop on “DNA Barcoding – Concept and applications” inaugurated at University College in the city.

Mangaluru, December 19: A two day National workshop on “DNA Barcoding – Concept and applications” was inaugurated at University College, in the city on Thursday December 18th.

This workshop has been organized by the departments of Botany, Microbiology and Zoology, University College, Hampankatta.

The program was inaugurated by Prof K Byrappa Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University along with other dignitaries on the dais.

Dr Bharathi Prakash, organizing secretary, presented an introduction on the workshop.

The chief guest for the programme, Dr Indrani Karunasagar, Director(R&D) from NITTE University in her address said, “This workshop is not only meant to acquiring knowledge, but for developing collaboration”. She congratulated the organizers for organizing the workshop and opined that this workshop will be useful for all.

The function was presided over by Prof K Byrappa and a souvenir was also released by him on this occasion.

Dr G D Khedkar, Director, Paul Hebert Centre for DNA Barcoding and Biodiversity Studies, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad is the chief resource person.

On this occasion, Dr Siddaraju M N (Department of botany) and Dr Nagarathna K A (Department of zoology), were also present.

Prof Sunanda U, principal of University College welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Shobha.
