Mangaluru, December 16: The Konkani Sahitya Sammelana is scheduled to be organized on December 20th, 2014 at the district Scouts and Guides hall in Lalbhagh in the city by the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy informed Roy Castelino-the president of Konkani Sahitya academy.
Speaking at a press meet held on Tuesday, December 16th; he said, the Kannada writer Veerabhadrappa will inaugurate the program and the event will be presided over by the veteran Konkani writer Edwin Netto. Dr Shobha Neelavara, Assistant professor, Karnataka University, Dahrwad will be the guest of honour.
“Unya Bhavadthache”-novel written by renowned Konkani writer Edwin J F D’Souza and “Aayeracho Buuk” poetry written by Andrew L D’Kunha will be released on this occasion.
A cultural procession will begin at 4pm from the districts scouts and Guides hall and proceed towards lady hill circle, and return back to the hall by passing in front of MCC near Konkani Academy.
The chairmanship of the program post the procession will be taken by the Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza. District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai and Dr Mohan Alva, chairman, Alvas Foundation (R) will be the chief guests. Pradeep G Pai, MLA’s J R Lobo and Ivon D’Souza will be the guest of honour. Special guest on this occasion is Lawrence D’Souza, Movie Director.
Syril Sequera, President, Konkani Sahitya Sammelana, C Geetha Kini, President, Konkani language association, Venkatesh Baaliga, editor of Kodiala Kahbara were present.
