Government doctors to see a hike in take home after approval of Finance Department.

Mangaluru, December 15:  Minister for Health U T Khader has said that recommendation to hike the salaries of government doctors appointed on contract basis has been sent to the Finance Department for approval. The salary will see a hike from the current 28,000 to 45,000.

He also said that, all the doctors appointed on contract basis will be made permanent post they complete three years of service.

It has been also recommended to hike remuneration of National Rural Health Mission doctors working on contract basis from Rs 28,000 to Rs 45,000. But it will be implemented only after analysing the remuneration pattern of other states, said Khader.

He also revealed that salary of regular doctors is likely to be increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000.

Retired doctors who are interested in serving at government hospitals will also be hired. These specialist doctors will be employed on contract basis and offered Rs 50,000 salary if they consent to work for whole day in the hospital; else they will be paid Rs 5,000 per patient, he said.

Abbakka Utsava:

UT Khader  has informed that during the 12th Abbakka Utsava which is scheduled to be held at Thumbay in January 2015, felicitation will be given to Nadoja Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai- veteran poet and Kannada activist and scholar Amritha Someshwara- eminent folk.

Khader speaking to media said, Rs 40 lakhs has been sanctioned by the government for the program to be jointly organized by Department of Kannada and Culture and Veerarani  Abbakka Utsava Committee.

Minister Khader also informed that, in relation to the Utsav, 3 documentaries named “Rani Abbakka Rangadarshini” in the form of traditional dance, drama and Yakshagana, will be released on December 21st at Thokkottu.
