Mangalore, May 15: It has been revealed through police investigation that suspicious death of 65 year old woman in a road side pond in Hannimar of Keyyur village did not meet an accident but murdered for self gain.In this connection police have arrested a neighbor of the dead woman, identified as Ananthesh.
Earlier it was reported that deceased Girija Poojary aged 65 might have died due to epileptic attack or slipped into the drain and died.
However as per the available sources Ananthesh had followed Girija while she was returning from local beedi branch, where she had been for depositing the days beedies as her regular practice, hit her with a heavy wooden log and made his way with her chain, which proved to be duplicate later.
Sources said that Girija who separated from her husband used to live with her brother’s house.Ananthesh thought that he could take advantage of her solitary life and was eying for her chain, nose pin and ear rings.
Police sources said the arrested person will be produced before the court for further interrogation.
