MANGALORE, May 13: Kalasa in Mudigeretaluk of Chikmagalur district recorded maximum rainfall of 54mm in Karnataka in last 24-hours up to 8.30am on May 13th, Monday. Chincholihobli in Chincholi taluk of Gulbarga district recorded the maximum temperature of 41.9°C on May 12 at 2.30pm. Mudigere hobli in Mudigere taluk of Chikmagalur district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 17.5°C on May 12 at 4.30pm.

More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 20% geographical area in the state. Less than 15% of relative humidity has been recorded in 7% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over Karnataka is considered as isolated since 10% of hoblis and grampanchayat recorded rainfall greater than or equal to 2.5mm. Rainfall was fairly widespread in two districts; scattered in four; isolated in five and negligible in 21 districts.

Rather heavy rain was recorded in three districts; moderate rain in six; light rain in two; very light rain in eight and no rain in 11 districts each. Fairly widespread, moderate to rather heavy rain was received in Kodagu and Hassan. Scattered, moderate to rather heavy rain was received in Chikkaballapur, Bangalore Rural, Mandya and Chikmagalur; isolated, light to moderate rain was received in Dakshina Kannada, Mysore, Kolar, Tumkur and Chamarajanagar. condition prevailed in remaining parts of the state.

Karnataka for the period May 7 to May 13 recorded surplus rainfall of 16%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 12.1mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 14mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on May 13, four geographical regions received 0.8mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 2.2mm, a 64% deficit departure from normal.
