KJP requests to take appropriate actions on erring police official in assault case of Spandana TV reporter.

Mangalore, October 29: Prabahkar Kotian, a Udupi reporter of Spandana Channel had tried to rule out the illegal sand mining through the Swing operation was assaulted by Bramhavar Station Police Inspector. The Inspector also had snatched the other belongings along with camera. Opposing this act of the inspector, the Karnataka Journalist association has submitted a request to the western Range IGP Amrith Pal to further investigate on this matter and take suitable legal actions on the official.

Due to the continuous assault on the journalists, it is difficult to carry on their duty courageously and independently. Hence it has been urged in the request to conduct proper investigations and to allow the journalists to carry  on their work freely.

In the association, vice president of the Karnataka journalists association and districts president Sudhesh Kumar, secretary Sathish Kapilkad, the head of the DK district branch Spandana TV Ramdas, reporter Vinod, journalist M J Rao, and other reporters of various media and camera men were present.
