Mangalore, October 25:  The protest was staged on October 24th, Friday evening in front of the deputy commissioner’s office by CPI(M) criticizing the decision of Union Government for deregulating oil prices.

KR Sriyan, State Secretariat Board Member of the Party addressing the protestors said, generally the oil prices in the country will raise or fall depending on the prices of the crude oil in the international market. He

criticized of the Government’s decision and said there was a need to expose the politics behind the deregulation oil prices which he said aimed at giving a free hand to the oil companies to hike prices.

He said, even though the oil prices have fallen, neither prices of daily commodities nor other goods are not yet reduced. The NDA government policies were continued version of the UPA policies. If the UPA had deregulated petrol prices in 2010, the UPA government has now deregulated diesel prices, he said.

The congress led UPA government had lost its power since it had raised the problems such as price rise, unemployment, and corruption. He also urged the people to fight against the Union Government policies.

Party leaders such as J Balakrishana Shetty, U B Lokayya, Krishnappa Salian, K Yadava Shetty, Sadhashivadas, Ramanna Vittla, Padmavathi Shetty, Jayanthi B Shetty, Muneer Katipalla led the protest.
