Employees protest in front of the MCF to restore Urea manufacture.

Mangalore, October 21: A protest was staged in front of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) on Tuesday October 21st by its employees demanding the restoration of urea production at MCF.

K N Suryanarayana, president of MCF Mangala Workers’ Union spoke to the media and said, “We have already submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and union minister to restore the urea production in the plant. The unit was producing 1,200 metric tonnes per day, but the production has been halted 21 days ago. It has caused several crores of loss to the company. If the company is closed, livelihood of several families will be affected”.

Farmer’s association member Shivananda said, “Farmers are used to Mangala fertilizers. It is a good quality fertilizer. We will protest throughout the state if the government fails to restore the plant”.
