Step to reform our blind practices-5000 widows expected to perform Laxmi pooja at Kudroli Sanctum.

Mangalore, October 18: This year during the Diwali Laxmi pooja, the former central minister and the lead of instauration of the Shree Kudroli Gokarnatha Sanctum B Janardhan Poojary has given an opportunity to 5000 widows to participate in the pooja at Shree Kudroli Gokarnatha Sanctum.

On October 23rd at 10am, the idols of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Vishnu will be placed in the chariot and pooja will be performed to the deities by the widow priests. This chariot will be drawn by widows and they will participate in the pooja. This is done with an intension of dropping out the blind traditions which was being practiced over years in our society said, Janardhan Poojary in a press meet on October 18th.

Widows from any area are welcomed to participate in this pooja. The women have to register their names by 9am in the morning. Those who participate in this pooja will be honoured with Saree, Blouse piece, Kumkum Karadige and a rupee coin, he explained.

He also said that, other women too can participate in this pooja. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to the participants.

He has made a renaissance in our society by employing two widow woman priests belonging to scheduled tribes, in this world famous Kudroli sanctum.

The president of the temple administration H s Sai Ram, vice president Raghavendra Kuloor, renovation committee member Dr B G Suvarna, Ravishankar Mijar, Harikrishna Bantwala, Shekar Poojary and others were present in the press meet.
