Dupatta entangled in railway track- Budding Engineering student meets a tragic end.

Puttur, September 29: A girl lost her life in a tragic accident where she was hit by a running train and another sustained fatal injury. The incident occurred close to Vivekananda Engineering College, here on Sunday evening, September 28th.

The deceased has been identified as Varsha Rai (19), daughter of Dayanand Alva, a resident of Konchady, Mangalore. She was perceiving her second year-Engineering education in Computer Science (CSE) Branch at Vivekananda Engineering college in Puttur.

 In this incident; Ratna, resident of Eshwaramangala, Puttur Taluk who tried to save her friend, suffered serious injuries on her hand.

 Varsha was a hostelite of the college and was strolling with her friends close to the railway track. It is gathered that these two girls were taking photographs. Dupatta of Varsha got entangled to the track near Vivekananda College when this fatal accident took place. Sources say that these two girls were hit by a moving train.

The railway Cops along with Puttur city police have inspected the spot and sent the body for autopsy.

Ratna is being treated for her injuries at an hospital in Mangalore.
