Two-days National-level IT-fest Joshiana 5.0 launched at SJEC Mangalore

Mangalore, September 26: A two-day national-level IT fest ‘Joshiana 5.0’, inagurated at St Joseph’s Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor here on Friday September 26th. The fest is conducted for the students of  MCA, M Tech, MS and BE (CS & IS) and  is hosted by the ‘TechnoCrats’ – students’ association of the department of computer applications, SJEC.

By lighting the lamp, the dignitaries who included Fr Denzil Lobo, director of AIMIT and rector St Aloysius Joshiana, who was the chief guest inaugurated Joshiana 5.0.

The other dignitaries present on the dais were Fr Ajith Menezes, director in-charge, SJEC who presided over the ceremony, Fr Rohith D’Costa assistant director, SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis principal, SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, vice principal/dean-MCA, SJEC, Anushree Raj HOD MCA, SJEC, Sathyendra Bhat J, staff coordinator for Joshiana 5.0, Ragesh Raju co-coordinator for Joshiana 5.0, Naveen Poojari, president of TechnoCrats and Nisha K, secretary of TechnoCrats.

The fest began with invocation of the divine by Ona Melissa Pinto and group from MCA III-sem. The gathering was welcomed by Anushree Raj, who extended warm wishes to all who were present during the Inauguration, post which the dignitaries were felicitated by the staff.

Naveen Poojari briefed the gathering of the events that would take place over the two days. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp which officially declared ‘Joshiana 5.0′ open and the unveiling of the trophies for which the participants were competing against each other. The official logo of TechnoCrats’ was also unveiled by the dignitaries on the occasion and the official Android app of the ‘Joshiana 5.0’ was launched.

Fr Denzil Lobo the Chief guest, addressed the gathering wherein he said his opinion on coping-up with the growing technology and also stressed on entrepreneurship and the culture to be followed in the IT industry.

Fr Ajith in his presidential address advised the students to choose the good and leave the bad. “How you live your life is your choice,” he added.

The inaugural ceremony culminated with the vote of thanks delivered by Preema Viola Pereira, from III-sem MCA, thereby declaring the fest open to all. Fariyal Arif from III-sem MCA, played the MC’s role on the inaugural ceremony.

Various events are conducted by the MCA students for two days, with judges being invited from the college and out of campus. Overall, 16 teams have registered for Joshiana 5.0 and around 180 participants are competing in the fest.

Fest comprises of  9 events, as follows –

  1. Codigo Friki (Coding and Debugging)
  2. IT Concorso (IT Quiz)
  3. Juego Recinto (Gaming)
  4. Web Dibujo (Web Designing)
  5. Producto De Imaginacio(Product Launch)
  6. Applicacion Evolution (App Development)
  7. IT-Parialmento (IT Parliament)
  8. Bueno Administrador (Best IT Manager)
  9. Teatro (Culturals).

In order to test the technical spirit of the participants, these events are designed.
