MANGALORE: Though Dakshina Kannada has been plummeted to rank number 26 from seven in the SSLC result 2013, the district has a reason cheer that 95 out 459 schools have bagged 100 perecent result.
Similarly, pass percentage in 199 schools in the district is between 81 and 99. Meanwhile, the pass percentage of 119 schools is between 61 and 80. Though there are many schools in the state, which presented zero percentage performance, no school from Dakshina Kannada belong to that list. Barring seven, all other schools have bagged more than 40 percent result.
The district, which was elevated to seventh rank in the state in 2012 from 21 in 2011, lost its glory with the announcement of 2013 result. The district could bag only the 26 thrank in the state with 78.77 pass percentage, which was 85.24 percent in 2012. Out of 32,734 candidates, who appeared for the exam, 25,827 have come out successful in the district. However, the district has been pushed to 26th place in the state.
While 82.36 percent of the regular fresh students in the district have passed, the pass percentage of private candidates was only 13.39. Barring Moodbidri, all other taluks have secured below 90 percent result in the regular category in the district.
Out of 31,081 regular candidates, who appeared the examination, 25,599 came out successful. Meanwhile, of the 1,703 private candidates, only 228 could pass the exam in the district.
Poor performance of government schools is seen as a major reason for the downfall of district in terms of state average. Unaided schools in the district have presented excellent performance with the pass percentage of 93.63. Similarly, aided schools too have performed well with 85.84. However, the pass percentage of government schools was only 71.09.
