Mangalore, September 20: The Gokarnatha Shrine which was established by Shree Narayana Guru is preparing briskly for the renowned upcoming “Mangalore Dasasra” festival.
The shrine possesses history of over a century of which the former minister Janardhan Poojary has undertaken the responsibility of renovation and other betterment works. Under his leadership the world famous “Mangalore Dasara” which has taken place since 23years continuously will be celebrated for 10days from September 25th to October 5th, said the chairman of the temples board H.S.SaiRam.
Addressing a press meet today he said the idols of Navadurga and Sharada mathe will be installed at a time on 25th September at 11.15a.m.
The Dasara programme will be inaugurated by the Chief-minister on 27th September at 6.30p.m.The former minister B.Janardhana Poojary will hold the chairmanship of the program. The cultural programmes will be organised in the evening at 6.30p.m from September 27th onwards till August 3rd at Snthoshi Kala Mantap. Different cultural programmes will be showcased from the artists from all over the state.
The member of the betterment committee Harikrishna Bantwala said that, the grand procession of the deities will begin at 4pm on Saturday August 4th under the leadership of Janardhan Poojary.
The tabloos from all over the state, cultural teams comprising of the 3-tablos which will be sent by the Kerala government will take part in this procession. The tabloos willing to participate in this procession have to compulsorily register their name within September 25th.
The main roads through which the procession moves will be decorated by approximately 20 lakh lamps. Mr Harikrishna Bantwal has requested the owners of the shops to decorate their shops in the street through which the procession moves and add colour to the celebration.
Lakhs of people are expected to come down to the city from the country and abroad to view the grand dasara. In this shrine daily meals are provided. During Navarathri, various special poojas are performed by the donation of the devotees.
Mr H.S. SaiRam has requested the people of all clans are requested to make this Dasara successful and bring name and fame to the district and the State.
