New Delhi: Even after Uttar Pradesh government faces criticism over the escalating number of rapes in the state, ruling Samajwadi Party remains defiant and continue giving bizarre justifications for the horrific crime.

Giving cold-shoulder to the media, party supreme Mulayam Singh Yadav said that those worried about the law and order situation in UP should stay in Delhi.

This thoughtless statement came a day after his son and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav accused media of highlighting cases happening only in UP, while ignoring those in other states. Another SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav had also blamed media, saying it did not show up cases in other states.

Simultaneously, Akhilesh’s wife and SP leader Dimple Yadav was the only party leader to make a wise statement. Reportedly, she said, “This is an important and sensitive issue. We must reflect on why such incidents take place. The SP government is committed to punishing the perpetrators of such crimes.”

There has been nationwide outrage against the Uttar Pradesh government following the gangrape and murder of two teenage Dalit sisters, who were found handing from a tree in Badaun.
