MukeshAmbani_Reuters_NEWFollowing criticism on Twitter over the union home ministry providing the second-highest security cover to Mukesh Ambani akin to prominent political leaders, the RIL chief clarified that he and not the government will be paying for the security.

Amid reports of threat to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani from banned terrorist organisation, Indian Mujahideen (IM), the Centre  decided that Ambani is a ‘national asset’ and agreed to give the business tycoon ‘Z’ security cover, under which he will be e escorted at all times by28  commandos from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

“Ambani will have a pilot and follow-on vehicles with commandos armed with sophisticated weapons. The industrialist will be given proximate security wherever he goes in India,”Firstpost”had reported earlier. The DG of CRPF had earlier told CNN-IBN that it would cost Rs 14 lakh a month to provide Mukesh Ambani the security which includes salary, supervision and escort charges. And now Ambani has agreed to foot this cost himself after the Aam aadmi Party and several others lashed out at the government for extending the privilege to a private person.

The national outrage over the security cover was also reflected in a tweet by Chetan Bhagat. “”Billionaires get A to Z-class security.Little girls learning A to Z, however, continue to get kicked out of police stations. What priorities,” he tweeted.
