Shocked family members gather at Yogi Nagar residence, hope against hope
Three members of a Borivli-based family are feared to be among those missing in the ill-fated Malaysian Airlines flight MH 370, which disappeared while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing yesterday and is believed to have crashed somewhere in the South China Sea. The flight, which went missing from the Vietnamese coast had 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board.
The Kolekar family of Vinod and his wife Chetna (both 58) were traveling to China along with their younger son Swanand Kolekar (23). Speaking to this newspaper late on Saturday, shocked relatives of the family said the three were going to China to meet their elder son who is settled there. “Their elder son, Vedant, is in China for the past two years. He was in Mumbai this year to finalise his wedding,” said a neighbour requesting anonymity.
Vinod Kolekar was an employee with Mahindra and Mahindra and had recently retired while his wife Chetna was a homemaker. Swanant had completed his graduation in engineering. They are the residents of Sukh Sagar building at Yogi Nagar in Borivili.
At the time of going to press, neighbours and relatives had gathered at the building, awaiting the latest update and hoping for some positive news.
