Pollachi Hospital gets scanning equipment

10GOVERNMENTA Computerised Tomography (CT) scan equipment was commissioned at District Headquarters Government Hospital at Pollachi in the district on Sunday.

This diagnosing equipment will produce detailed three-dimensional (3D) images of body parts and will be used to detect the extent of injuries or size of tumours, besides their exact location.

Till now, the hospital had referred those requiring CT scans to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH), which was nearly 40 km away.

According to a press release, Agriculture Minister S. Damodaran inaugurated the equipment in the presence of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Pollachi V. Jayaraman.

The CT Scan equipment was purchased at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore, the release added.

Speaking on the occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that the State Government accorded high priority for adequate infrastructure at Government health institutions.
Appointed

Dawood Fathima, Joint Director, Medical and Rural Services, said that 34 conservancy workers, gardeners, plumbers, security personnel, supervisors and a manager were appointed at the Pollachi Government Hospital on January 31.

S. Kannan, Superintendent of Pollachi Government Hospital and other officials took part in the function along with MLAs and the Government officials.
