Modi most searched politician in 2013: Google

NEW DELHI, December 19:  BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has emerged as the most searched politician on Google in the country this year, according to the search giant’s annual Zeitgeist. Interestingly, Mr. Modi’s coronation tops the list of the most searched news in 2013.

The Google India Zeitgeist tracks the year’s major events and trends based on Google searches conducted in the country.

Second on the list on ‘top searched politicians’ is Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, followed by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Other politicians in the top 10 are Arvind Kejriwal, Akhilesh Yadav, Nitesh Kumar, Digvijaya Singh and Sushma Swaraj.

Top 10 searched news this year included BlackBerry Phones, players like Rahul Dravid and Saina Nehwal, Vijay Mallya, Karnataka Election results and Indian Economy 2013.

According to the Google Zeitgeist more people searched online for Bollywood newcomer Sunny Leone than actors like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone, making her the most searched personality this year.

Shah Rukh Khan stood fifth in the list, followed by singer Honey Singh, Telugu and Tamil film actress Kajal Agarwal, Kareena Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar and Poonam Pandey.
