New Delhi: An Indian fisherman —who had set sail from the Gujarat coast —was on Friday killed in firing from an “unidentified” vessel at his boat about “10 nautical miles across the notional International Maritime Boundary Line” even as the local fishermen association blamed the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency for the attack.

A 40-year-old Indian fisherman, identified as Iqbal, succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a bullet on the right collar bone.

According to sources, surveillance of the waters has apparently revealed that there was a PMSA vessel in the area at the time of the incident at about 8 am on Friday about eight to nine miles from the IMBL on the Pakistani side, which points the finger on the Pakistani vessel for the firing. However, India is still probing the matter and has not accused Pakistan so far for firing on the fisherman.
