Mumbai: During her interrogation, Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the murder case of Sheena Bora, said even though she hated her daughter, she could not kill her. She added that her former husband Sanjeev Khanna was responsible for the killing.
Sanjeev admitted his involvement in the murder saying he was dragged into the crime by Indrani with the promise of financial help, according to media reports.
It has also been reported that Indrani broke down during the interrogation. She also had an altercation with Khanna when the two were brought face-to-face with him at Khar Police Station on Saturday.
The driver who was also present during the interrogation was quiet most of the time.
Indrani admitted that she never liked Sheena and did not have a good relation with her daughter. Most of their conversations ended in fights, she revealed. Indrani also said Sheena reminded her of her past assaults and torture.
While Indrani blamed Khanna for Sheena’s murder, Khanna repeatedly said that it was Indrani who dragged him into the crime. He also confessed that post the incident Indrani helped him set up his business. Thereafter, they were in touch with him and she provided financial assistance to him whenever he needed it.
Indrani also confessed to a monetary dispute between them. She said she had transferred a huge amount of money to Sheena’s account but when she asked for it, Sheena refused to return it. She also said that Sheena always threatened her by saying she would reveal her true face to husband Peter Mukerjea and ensure that her marriage broke.
Meanwhile, Sheena’s passport was recovered from Rahul Mukerjea’s Dehradun home by the Mumbai Police. Rahul is the son of Indrani’s husband Peter from an earlier marriage. Indrani also admitted she wanted to separate Rahul and Sheena.
