Nashik, August 29: On the occasion of the Kumbh Mela, huge crowd of devotees was seen in the holy town of Triyambakeshwar in Nashik.
Taking a dip in the holy river Godavari is considered to be the most sacred. Devotees bathe in the river on a specific date and at specific time. Thousands of saints, holy men and numerous devotees are witnessed taking dips in the two bathing ghats, Ramkund and Kushavarta.
Hindu mythology says that, Lord Vishnu flew from earth to heaven with a pot of nectar, spilling drops of nectar at four different places such as Haridwar, Nashik, Ujjain and Allahabad. The Kumbh Mela is held once in three years in one of these four places.
First Shahi Snan will be held on Saturday August 29th while the second and third Shahi Snans are scheduled on September 13th and 18th.
Tight security has been deployed comprising nearly 15,000 police, 10 squads of special forces and anti-terrorism squads and bomb disposal squads too.
