HargudeThe airport police have arrested one person in the case. However, his accomplice is absconding. The deceased youth has been identified as Rakesh Dnyaneshwar Hargude, of Gurudwara Colony in Lohegaon. Krishna Subramaniun Swami (25) of Santnagar, Lohegaon, is the arrested suspect. His accomplice Ganesh Jagtap is still at large.

The airport police received a call from one Bhupendrasingh Tarasingh (56) of Lohegaon on Sunday about a pool of blood in a portion of Kalwad Vasti. When the cops went to the spot, they saw some belongings and suspected murder.

Meanwhile, Hargude’s father had lodged a missing person’s complaint and identified Hargude’s belongings. “The father of the deceased informed us that Swami and Jagtap had threatened his son and arrested Swami,” said police inspector Dilip Naukudkar. During interrogation Swami confessed to killing Hargude.

“He told us that Hargude was having an illicit relationship with the wife of a friend, who’s in Yerawada Jail in an attempt-to-murder case,” he added.  Swami, Jagtap and Hargude stayed in the same area and on Saturday night, the accused called Hargude to Kalwad Vasti in Lohegaon, where the three had alcohol. After Hargude was a little dizzy, Swami and Jagtap slit his throat and disfigured his face with a sharp weapon. They then dumped his body in PMC’s sewage drainage tank.

“After Swami told us where they had dumped the body, we sent a police team and with the help of the fire brigade fished out Hargude’s body,” added Naukudkar.  A case has been registered against Swami and Jagtap for offences under sections 302 (murder), 201 (destroying evidence) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
