Sea erosion was mainly reported in Musotty near Uppala, Cherangai, Kasaba, Chembarikka and Thaikkadappuram beaches. In Uppala, a compound wall of a mosque caved in as sea waters surged into the premises on Sunday.

Several houses are facing threat from sea erosion. A tile roofed house at Cherangai beach got destroyed in the surging waves.

As many as 30 coconut palms were uprooted in the nature’s fury. The region, however, did not experience heavy rain over the last one week raising concerns among paddy farmers.
