Daughter stopped from carrying mobile, mother beats up school staff

Chandigarh Jalandhar: A woman allegedly beat up the director of a school in Jalandhar after her daughter was stopped from carrying a mobile phone by the latter, police said on Thursday.

Following a complaint, police have registered an FIR against Taranjit Kaur and investiging the matter.

On Monday, Taranjit Kaur Hundal, wife of advocate KS Hundal, whose daughter studies at Mayor World School, Jalandhar, barged into the office school director Jyoti Nagrani and closed the door from inside. She not only allegedly hurled abuses at Nagrani, but also beat her up and even strangulated her.

The school on Wednesday issued a video footage to the police for recording the evidence in the case.

n Wednesday, the police lodged an FIR against Taranjit Kaur under sections 451 (house trespass in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 452 (house trespass after preparation to hurt, assault or wrongful restraint).

However, under acute pressure from the school management and teachers, police on Thursday booked Taranjit Kaur for abusing and beating Nagrani under section 452.

Meanwhile, the school management and the CBSE Association have sought registration of the case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.

Anil Chopra, president of the association and chairman, St Soldier Group of Institutions, said they would call for school bandh soon if an FIR under section 307 (attempt to murder) was not registered against Taranjit Kaur.
