New Delhi: The Delhi Police has been appealing the citizens to record or tape demands of bribe and complain on its helpline and WhatsApp number to crack the whip on corrupt practices.
But in a severe blow to its claims over transparency being practiced in its offices, the Delhi Police Department has banned people from carrying mobile phones, pens and diaries inside police stations, fearing these devices may be used to do sting operations.
As per reports, cops are not allowing people with mobile phones, pens to enter in the police stations. The step came in after the police department was reportedly flooded with stings and complaints when the department came up with ads encouraging people to record illegal activities.

The department has, reportedly, sent out a directive to the SHOs of every police station to put up a notice on the list of items banned outside the police station for the convenience of visitors.
As per a TOI report, guards were put up at the gates to frisk complainants entering the police station with the “banned items”, on Tuesday.
Several men, women and elderly, who had come to lodge complaints, either had to return home to keep the banned items or had to arrange for a person to hold their mobile phones till they returned.
