Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated people of Jammu and Kashmir for giving a befitting reply to the terrorists’ gun, saying that by voting in large numbers during first phase of assembly elections, they have displayed superemacy of ballot over bullet during the first phase of assembly elections in Jammu Kashmir.

“Terrorists are frustrated…They are feeling that they have been terrorizing people, using guns and bullets to kill people, but the power of democracy was still alive in Jammu Kashmir,” said Modi while addressing an over 70,000 strong crowd as part of his electioneering for second phase of assembly elections to be held in the state on December 2.

“They have also sent a message to the world that how deep rooted was the democracy in them,” he said, adding that “they have made democracy victorious in Jammu Kashmir. For this, the people of India are grateful to them”.

Those people who had been showing power of bullets to suppress ballots have for the first time seen the supremacy of ballot over bullet, he said. The people have shown them that they were no longer going to be cowed down by their threat, he added.

Appealing people to vote for a majority BJP government in the state, Modi also accused National Conference and PDP of looting the state by turns. “Bring a majority BJP government, if you want every penny pocked by them to be brought back from them,” he appealed.

The money sent by Delhi government has been pocketed by few families in the state. Had it been directly deposited in the individual bank accounts of the people here, they would gave been the richest people in the country, he added.

Pointing out that he was saying all this not for the sake of politics or to garner votes, but because the development journey has come to a standstill in the stare for the last 30 years.

“Corruption, loot and blackmailing has become habit of the ruling politicians here, who taking advantage of people’s compulsion have been looting the state turn by turn,” he said. Even the government sitting in Delhi used to think that if it continued sending money, things will continue moving in the state, he added.

“However, we have now decided that while there will be no dearth of finds for the state, the government in Delhi will see that the money meant for common man reaches him and it is used for the work UT gas been sent.
