Jaipur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shaina NC took a jibe at former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati by saying that she is confused whether the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) chief is ‘he’ or ‘she’.
She said this while participating in Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) event at Jaipur.
“I don’t even know that Mayawati is ‘he’ or ‘she’,”Shaina said with a smile and added she is not talking about the position of women in Politics, but indicating towards the number of women in Parliament and state assemblies.
Though she was interrupted by Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) member Jitendra who said that women were always powerful in politics whether it’s Indira Gandhi, Jayalalithaa or Mayawati.
On this, Shaina said these are examples of women who are single.
According to the BJP spokesperson, talking about women’s right is redundant until we have equal participation by them in politics.
“Women’s participation in politics is not even 33 percent. If they are equally responsible for casting vote, they should be given equal opportunity to contest elections. Even if a party gives ticket to a woman candidate, it will be for that seat where the political unit hardly has any hope to secure a win,” she said.
Later too, Shaina observed a slip of tongue when she said ‘my money is politics’ while replying to a question – what is her first love, ‘fashion industry or politics’?
Though she immediately corrected herself saying that politics is my passion and fashion industry is my first love.
