ALAPPUZHA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Thiruvananthapuram has received a letter threatening to thwart all future visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the State. The letter was sent by the Mannar unit of the Socialist Democratic Party of India, here, on Tuesday.
Soon after the letter surfaced, H.Venkatesh, Commisioner of Police, ordered an inquiry following a BJP complaint. The letter which was found in the morning at the BJP office says: “If the Modi ibiliz who killed Muslims in Gujarat and is still killing Muslims in Pakistan comes to Kerala, he will soon find himself in a photo frame. The BJP should understand this”. The letter shows Modi pasted over a cutout of David Haines, the Scottish aid worker, waiting to be killed by a masked man in black.
The caption says it’s the picture of Haines before he was killed by the ISIS.
R. Binu, Circle Inspector, Mannar, said no SDPI unit was active in the place. “We searched the whole area after the letter surfaced. But we found neither an office nor local leaders in the area”, he said.
Meanwhile, P.Abdul Hameed, state general secretary, SDPI, denied any role in the letter. ” It’s fabricated. Our party never uses the term ‘unit’ as claimed in the letter. It might be the handiwork of the BJP, to make Modi more popular”, he said.
