Hyderabad: The police on Monday arrested the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president of Tenali in AP for allegedly distributing morphed photographs of a woman from Kukatpally and sending her abusive e-mails.
G. Samba Shiva Rao, 33, had earlier tried to molest her and was booked by cops. The 29-year-old victim had tried to commit suicide due his constant harassment.
According to the police, Rao had lent her money in the past to buy a flat. She could not repay, and Rao tried to take advantage of her, police said. On a complaint filed by the woman, Cyber Crime police of Cyberabad booked a case and arrested Rao. “In the previous case, Tenali Two police had arrested Rao in May, and the trial is pending. After his release, he continued to harass her which compelled her to attempt suicide,” said a senior police official.
The woman who was being harassed by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president of Tenali, moved to Kukatpally from Tenali and started staying with her mother. G. Samba Shiva Rao, 33, visited her again and collected her contact details for follow-up on the loan repayment.
“He then started sending morphed nude photographs of her in the mail. He also sent several abusive and threatening messages,” said a Cyber Crime police officer. Following the complaint from the victim, police arrested Rao from his hometown after an inquiry. Cops booked a case against him under IPC Section 354 for outraging a woman’s modesty, Section 506 for criminal intimidation, and a section under IT Act.
