types-of-condoms

We are inundated with choices for everything – even the type of condom we use! How many times have you been to a pharmacy and wondered which one should you really pick? Though we essentially use this contraceptive method to prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, its manufacturers would like us to believe that condoms also help increase pleasure between the sheets and so there are different variants available in the market. We give you the low-down on the different types of condoms and which one is best-suited for you.

Dotted condoms

If you do not want to opt for the plain and boring condom type, you can try the dotted variant. These condoms have a dots-like pattern on them to increase the stimulation for more pleasure during sexual intercourse. Avoid using them if you have broken skin or very sensitive skin as it can lead to a rash. Did you know condoms could have these side-effects?

Ribbed condoms

Similar to dotted ones, ribbed condoms have bumps on them to increase pleasure. Some even have these bumps at the bottom of the condom to create clitoral stimulation as well during intercourse. This makes sex more pleasurable for the woman. You may skip this type if you find it to be too rough for your liking. Are you using condoms the right way?

Ultra-thin condoms

If you are someone who feels sex is less pleasurable after wearing a condom, you should opt for the ultra-thin variety. As the name suggests, these are slightly thinner than the usual ones which make the sensations more pleasurable during intercourse. But beware of condom tear. If you do not want to wear a condom, your woman can try female condoms.

Flavoured condoms

In the mood for oral sex? Spice things up with flavoured condoms. These condoms are flavoured with an essence of fruity ingredients such as strawberry, mango, banana, etc. Some companies also offer flavours such as chocolate, coffee, vanilla and more. If you have very sensitive skin, you can stick to the regular kind during vaginal penetration as flavoured ones may cause irritation.

Extra pleasure condoms

Want to delay climaxing too early? There are specialised condoms you can use. These condoms meant to help you last longer during sexual intercourse contain benzocaine. This helps numb the penis for a while by dulling the sensation in the nerve that helps men ejaculate. This in turn prevents premature ejaculation. But it can have side-effects such as irritation, rashes, itching and in worst cases breathing difficulties. If this happens, you need to discontinue using this type and see a doctor.

Though there are several types of condoms, make sure you pick something that suits both you and your partner. You can also opt for other contraceptive methods.
