All flights into Abu Dhabi today morning were diverted to other airports in the region due to extremely low visibility because of dense fog. Departures, too, were effected for some time. While services have now resumed, things are expected to be back to normal only after 24 hours.

As many as 37 aircraft were diverted: 14 flights to Al Ain Airport, three flights to Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai, and one flight to Al Bateen Airport, in addition to 10 flights diverted to Doha Airport, six flights to Muscat, two flights to Damam and one flight diverted to Bahrain airport.

Statements issued by the Abu Dhabi Airport and Etihad Airways advised passengers to check-in as normal and requested them to contact the airport/airline authorities to confirm their flight status.
