Ajman Ruler issues decree on activities of hotels, tourist facilities

The new Decree, No. 05 for the year 2014, cancelled article 3 of the old decree concerned with supervision of the Department of Tourism Development.

His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman has issued an Emiri Decree amending decree No. 02 for the year 2013 on regulating activates and hotels and tourist facilities in the Emirate of Ajman.

The new Decree, No. 05 for the year 2014, cancelled article 3 of the old decree concerned with supervision of the Department of Tourism Development regarding hotel and tourist activities in the Emirate of Ajman, replacing it with a new article stipulating that department as the only one concerned to classify, license and control any hotel activity in the emirate.

The decree stipulates that any competent body for issuing business licenses in the emirate has no authority to issue new business licenses for any tourist establishment, or for any person to engage in any activity regarding tourist facilities in the emirate, or the renewal or amendment of any business license issued to a tourist facility before the effective date of this decree, without obtaining a preliminary license from the department.

The new decree also cancelled article 4 of the 2013 decree, replacing it with a another new article concerning the preliminary license for hotel and tourist facilities, where it stipulates that as of the effective date of this decree, it is prohibited for any person to engage in or attempt to engage in any hotel or tourist activity in the emirate without obtaining a preliminary license from the department.
