A 19-year-old Sri Lankan will be executed by the firing squad in Sharjah on Tuesday morning for killing a UAE national.
The Sharjah Public Prosecution will execute the 19-year-old R. K., a shopkeeper. The Sri Lankan planned and lured the victim to a desert area in Sharjah. He then availed the opportunity and drove the Emirati’s car and ran over him after which he came back to his accommodation from where he was arrested. During police interrogation, R.K said that the motive behind the murder was sexual assault but the Sharjah Sharia court sentenced him to death.
Though the victim offered to pay the blood money, the family of the deceased refused. The Sri Lankan was supposed to be executed on Sunday but his execution was postponed due to a national holiday.
