Klassical Rhythms gave an outstanding performance on the 25th May 2018 at the Indian Consulate, Dubai. The performance was a part of the prestigious VASANTHOTSAVAM an annual music and dance festival.

The performance began with a Pushpanjali, an apt invocatory number. Ganesha Stuthi followed next. The dancers’ lithe moves were proof of stamina and good comprehension of talam for the rhythmical sections.

The Award-winning mentor presented a solo dance on Lord Rama. Her fleet-footed movements and a wide-eyed exuberance caught the audience attention. Rohini’s dance came like a breath of fresh air – eschewing coy looks or artifice, but with the energy and zeal to impress. Her choreography worked to her advantage and made for continuity of mood with the main lyric which followed.

A Tyagaraja Krithi on Lord Shiva followed next. The choreography explored the omniscience of the lord and the awe he inspires. The dancers’ delineation succeeded in projecting the majesty of Siva admirably aided by the many striking postures. The episode of Ravana making a veena out of his own body was spell bounding. One could not fail to notice Rohini’s maturity and experience as a dancer.

The finale, SHADA VAIRI, a thematic presentation of the 6 bad qualities in a being (Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment, Arrogance and Jealousy), was a treat to the eyes. Quick cameos for each of the quality were depicted neatly without raw edges. Episodes from the epics were neatly woven together in each scene, the dancers emoting the quality with par excellence.

An evening well spent with the Klassical Rhythms team. Dancers – Nritya Ratna Guru Vidushi Rohini Ananth, Kum Prerana Pai Bhande, Kum Smriti Dayanad Shenoy, Kum. Tanvi Sundar Kanchan and Smt. Divya Ramkumar.
