A young Asian mother committed suicide along with her daughter by drowning in the sea in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday.
Brigadier Abdullah Khamis, a senior officer at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said a a private security guard called the police to inform about the body of a woman and a small girl on the beach.
The woman was suffering from psychological problems also
Police vehicles rushed to the scene where they found the 23-year-old Asian mother and her 3-year-old daughter.
On questions the husband, the police found that there were differences among the family members for a long time which led to the woman’s suicide. The husband told police that his wife also suffered from psychological problems.
The husband told police that he had tried many times to convince her to stop her suicide bids. In a previous attempt, according to the husband, she set herself on fire but he managed to extinguish the blaze. Her hand got burnt in the fire, he said.
On the fateful day, the woman called her husband and informed him that she’s going to commit suicide. So he rushed to his home but didn’t find his wife and the daughter. Then he saw them heading towards the sea. He ran after them and managed to calm down the wife and brought her back. Later he went back to his office but he was concerned that she could attempt to commit suicide again.
When he returned in the evening from the office, he found his wife and daughter missing again. He began searching for them and asked security guard and neighbours but not body knew about their whereabouts. But the security guard later found her and the daughter on the beach motionless during the search.
According to the RAK Police, the postmortem report showed no signs of torture on the body.
