Sharjah Police has arrested four Afghans and a Pakistani on charges of burgling shops in the Emirate.
Sharjah Police said it had received a number of complaints from shop owners who were victims of their burglaries.
The gang used to break into shops and break open their steel safes to steal money.
An Afghan living in Ajman was first arrested and he admitted to burglaries with help from others who were nabbed by police later.
Three of them confessed to police that they had remitted money stolen from these shops to their own country.
Police said four of those arrested had criminal records and they had returned to the UAE after they were deported on court orders.
The case has been transferred to the public prosecutor in Sharjah for legal proceedings against the arrested people.
