Abu Dhabi: Eid Al Fitr in the UAE will be on Friday, July 17, announced the UAE Moon Sighting Committee.

The committee, which met on Thursday night (July 16) under the chairmanship of Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice, said upon verification and sighting of the crescent moon in coordination with the neighbouring sisterly countries, it has been decided that Thursday will be the last day of Ramadan, and Friday will be the first day of the month of Shawwal.

Other Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, will also celebrate Eid on Friday, but in Oman celebrations will begin on Saturday.
