A car rammed into the Fine Fair textile shop in the Al Buteena area of Sharjah on Sunday morning, shattering the glass window and mannequins displayed in front of the shop.

No one was reported injured in the accident, including the driver of the car who escaped unhurt. But the incident caused panic among the shop’s employees and bystanders.

“The driver was going to drop a friend. He had to turn the car to avoid colliding with another vehicle, and instead of pushing the brake pedal, he pushed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to run into the shop,” said an eyewitness.

“The glass window and façade is totally broken and half of the car was inside the garment shop. It damaged three mannequins of children displayed in front of the shop but no one was injured,” the eyewitness said.

“Since there is no fencing or road divider, the car went straight into the shop. Luckily, the shop was yet to open for the morning and there were no sales staff inside,” said an official of the garment store.

The white Toyota car was also partially damaged and Sharjah Police arrived at the scene after a few minutes. “We have insurance coverage for the shop and the damage should be repaired soon. The accident disrupted business for some time but now everything is under control,” said the official.
