Udupi: Kemtur Tulu drama contest award presentation ceremony

Udupi; Jan 13: On behalf of Udupi Tulu Koota Kemtur Tulu drama contest’s award presentation ceremony was held on Jan 12, Sunday in Udupi MGM College’s Muddanna Mantap.

After presenting awards, former legislator Raghupati Bhat said in his address that Tulu language and culture is one of the distinguished languages in the world and this can be saved through drama contests only. Therefore, these drama contests to be held frequently in more and more numbers, he said

Dr.Gananatha Yekkar, head of the post graduate’s Kannada department, Tenkanidiyoor government first Grade College, while speaking said that only because of stage dramas, today Tulu language could remain as live language amongst the people, he opined.

Chief guests like CMC vice president Amratha Krishnamurthy, entrepreneur Purushotham Shetty, Sangli Tulu Koota president Divakara Shetty, K.Vijaya Kumar Shetty were attended. Jayakara Shetty Indrali, President Tulu Koota has presided over the function.

Bhaskarananda Kumar, honorary president of the Koota, Tallur Shivarama Shetty, convener of the festival, Koota’s secretary Gangadhar Kidiyur, U.Damodhar, Manorama, treasurer M.G.Chaitanya and among others were present.

Prabhakara Bhandary, convener of the contest has delivered an introductory speech. V.J.Shetty welcomed, Santhosh Kumar Hiriyada compered the programme.

Thereafter ‘Komala Gaandhaara’drama was repeated by Kalabharati team of Mumbai Karnataka Sangha, the first prize winner in the contest.
