Mumbai: Emraan Hashmi’s look in Raja Natwarlal may be the gaudiest one he’s pulled off so far, but it wasn’t intended to be that way. Turns out the flashy denim patchwork shirt was the result of a wardrobe malfunction.
The designer accidentally burned a part of the shirt during the shoot. Since it was an outdoor shoot and there was no time to replace it, the designer, Rick Roy, cut pieces of a scarf he was wearing and attached it to the shirt.
Says Roy, “I was apprehensive about how Emraan and Kunal (director) would react to it, but thankfully they loved it. We were shooting on the busy roads of Charni Road (Mumbai) and there was absolutely no way to replace it, so we had to resort to this quick fix. We have been receiving good feedback for the look though. Besides, Emraan dresses up very soberly in real life and it was a refreshing change to see him in a flashy avatar.”
