Mumbai: When Preity Zinta went to the officials narrating her case of incidents of verbal abuse and molestation, the only response she got was “Congratulations, your team won.”
At least three BCCI and IPL officials’ reacted the same way minutes after she reportedly publicly humiliated by industrialist and ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia. This statement has been recorded by the Marine Drive police station.
According to the same statement, she had also put across her intention to file a police complaint against him to them.
“I walked away from him (Wadia), and met BCCI Chief Executive Officer Sunder Raman. I told Raman about the incidents that took place and that I was going to file a police complaint against Wadia,” Zinta told the police.
Raman’s statement that was recorded on June 19 read that “She told me that Wadia swore at her, grabbed and pulled her hand, and humiliated her at Garware Pavilion, because his family members could not find seats. She also said she wanted to lodge a complaint with the police. I calmed her down, told her that since her team had won the match, an appropriate decision would be taken about the incident later.”
Preity Zinta further explained her statement that after speaking with Raman, she spotted IPL Chairman Ranjib Biswal and BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel, and she approached them repeating the narration of incidents to the two. “While giving them the information, I was shivering. They congratulated me on the particular match being won by my team,” her statement read.
Preity had filed a complaint on June 12 alleging that Mr Wadia outraged her modesty during the IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings. Mr Wadia, however had said the allegation was ‘false and baseless’.
