First things first both Citylights and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi are small-budget films which means recovering the investment was not the biggest challenge for either of the films.
However, with the films being promoted decently and given a good theatrical release, one expected good earnings to come at the ticket windows too. But neither managed that. The occupancy in theatres remained very low despite there being no competition from a biggie.
Citylights managed to show some growth over the weekend at select multiplexes in major cities.
As for Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, the figures were even less, with the weekend. There isn’t much of a turnaround expected during the weekdays. For producers Balaji though, they have better days to look forward to with the soon-to-be-released Ek Villain generating some good hype.
