Yet again India is shining at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, Actor Kamal Hassan headed the opening ceremony of India Pavilion in presence of eminent Bollywood personalities like Oscar winner Resul Pookutty, Award winning director Ramesh Sippy, new age directors Sudhir Mishra, Bobby Bedi, Kanu Behl, traditionally dressed actor Ranvir Shorey and Kiran Juneja, Bollywood Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar in a colourful Krishna scarf by designer Rohit Verma and Producer Uday Chopra in a bright white suit.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in partnership with Federation of Indian Commerce & Industry (FICCI) has organised the activities at the India Pavilion at the 67th Cannes Film Festival this year. At the inauguration Kamal Hassan spoke about how India will be shining in global markets in next few years, while Uday Chopra spoke about his film ‘Grace of Monaco’ being chosen as the opening film at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
During the inauguration and the gala opening ceremony, FICCI announced that notable Bollywood Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar will be holding a talk and discussion on ‘Dance – Soul of Bollywood Films’ during the festival especially for all the Indian cinema lovers present at the Cannes film festival.
At the launch of the Pavilion, Sandip who has choreographed award winning films like Saat Khoon Maaf, Kites, Mangal Pandey, Zubaidaa and more said ‘I am honoured that FICCI has given me such an amazing opportunity to popularize Bollywood dance through this talk, I am sure that the guests at the Cannes Film Festival will now get the insight of exactly what goes behind making those larger than life dance sequences and creating those signature moves that the world follows as a trend later.’
Sandip Soparrkar makes heads turn at the opening ceremony of Cannes Film festival
Bollywood most stylish choreographer Sandip Soparrkar made a grand royal entry at the opening ceremony of 67th Cannes Film Festival dressed in creation of his favourite designer Deepak Shah. A sleek black sherwani with an overcoat, majestic green raw silk dupatta with Indian gold embroidery, accessorised with a classic temple jewellery necklace of rubies, emeralds and peals by Dev Balani of Malkish Jewels and a diamond studded watch by Shilpa Choksi of Marigold, Sandip looked a true Indian symbol of royalty.
Yet again the dynamic dancer allured and charmed the international paparazzi and people present at the splendid opening ceremony and premier of the film Grace of Monaco. The humble choreographer waltzed with style and grace perfect to the onlookers when he was introduced as the ‘Maharaja of Bollywood Dancing’ at the red carpet.
The celebrated choreographer who is known world over for making Pop divas Britney Spears and Madonna dance to his tunes is representing the Bollywood Dance Community at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, he will be walking the red carpet for five nights promoting the song and dance culture of Indian cinema at this prestigious international platform.
Celebrated Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar arrives at Cannes Film Festival
67th Cannes Film Festival begins with a grand opening, all stars lining up one after another to walk the most talked about red carpet in the world. Representing the Bollywood Dance community at the French Riviera is renowned choreographer Sandip Soparrkar, who arrived in full style in knee length tan boots at the JW Marriott Hotel.
This is Sandip’s second outing at Cannes Film Festival, last year too he made heads turn at the red carpet with his better half actress – super model Jesse Randhawa, this year the leggy model was to make an appearance too along with her talented husband but they did not seem to arrive together.
After arriving Sandip headed straight to meet Oscar Winner Resul Pookutty and was seen having animated conversation with the Academy Award winner, is there a dance and music extravaganza in the pipeline we wonder, joining them was actor turned director Kamal Sadanah as well.
Sandip will be at Cannes walking the red carpet for five nights in ‘More Mischief’ designs by Deepak Shah, Jewellery by Dev Balani of Malkish Jewels and watches by Shilpa Choksi of ‘Marigold Watches.’ Now we can only wait and see what does this most stylish choreographer awardee makes an entry on the red carpet with.
