Bollywood’s love affair with Dubai is all set to continue well into 2014 with the Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho, slated to have its world premiere in the city this Wednesday.
The Sohail Khan directed film, reportedly a remake of Telugu movie Stalin starring Chiranjeevi, will be screened at the Meydan Imax on January 22 at 8pm in the presence of its cast including Salman Khan, Daisy Shah, Sana Khan and music directors Sajid-Wajid.
While confirming the event to Khaleej Times, Parvez Khan, Chairman of Pacific Ventures, who is the co-producer of the film as well as the main organiser behind the event, said, “Our association with Sohail bhai goes back a long way (the actor-director is the face of the property developer). Both Salman and Sohail love Dubai a lot — they have an emotional attachment to the city since the initial 15-day shoot of Jai Ho took place here. They were keen therefore to have the world premiere here itself.”
Parts of Jai Ho, earlier titled Mental, was shot at Dubai’s Wonderland Theme and Water Park and the Saif Belhasa Driving Institue, so local fans can look forward to many familiar sights in the movie.
The stars are expected to land in Dubai on January 22 morning and will take part in a press conference followed by a red carpet event at the Meydan Imax. While the screening and the after-party that follows is strictly by invite-only, the organisers say the whole venue is being designed in such a way that fans can view Salman and the rest of the actors on the red carpet.
Jai Ho will release in UAE theatres on January 23.
