HYDERABAD: Actor Anjali, who mysteriously went missing from a star hotel in Jubilee Hills on Monday, has reportedly called up her mother and informed her that she was safe.

Talking to TOI, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), West Zone, G Sudheer Babu said Anjali called up her mother Parvati Devi on Wednesday morning to say that she was safe.

Talking to the media, the actor’s brother Ravi Shankar, who had lodged a missing complaint with the Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday, said that his sister had called up their mother and confirmed that she was safe. However, Ravi refused to withdraw his complaint and stated that he would do it only after seeing Anjail in person.

Meanwhile, police personnel, who had tracked the mobile phone of the actor, reportedly found out that she was near Novotel hotel in Shamshabad on Tuesday before switching off the phone. They also found out that she was in contact with several film industry personalities.

Even as the Hyderabad police were trying to trace the whereabouts of Anjali, her step-mother Bharati Devi against whom the actress had levelled several allegations, approached the Chennai police commissioner on Wednesday to lodge a complaint saying that Anjali was kidnapped.

Though Anjali might have told her mother that she was in Rajolu, sources said they suspect she was very much in the city. Jubilee Hills inspector D Pradeep Kumar said they were still continuing the probe and trying to trace the whereabouts of the actor.
