Mumbai: Actor Mallika Sherawat halted the shoot of her show The Bachelorette India – Mere Khaylaon Ki Mallika – for three days after one of the contestants reportedly used foul language against her.
The desi adaptation of American dating reality show The Bachelorette got a controversial twist as the 16 suitors and Mallika tried new antics to grab attention.
In the episode aired on Tuesday, two contestants presented their distasteful side as they talked about Mallika in a derogatory manner. While conversing among themselves, Vinay Jhamb, Vijay Singh and Karan Sagoo addressed the actor as a ‘whore’.
A major fight ensued between these three contestants in the presence of celebrity guest Mahesh Bhatt. One contestant even accused Mallika of accepting favours from Mahesh Bhatt.
Mallika was reduced to tears, and refused to shoot for three days.
“This episode was shot at Udaipur Palace in September. Following this incidence, Mallika had refused to report to the sets. She resumed shooting after a lot of cajoling by the production team,” says a source from the unit.
The shooting resumed only after Mallika’s anger cooled down. In one of the episodes, she also questioned the suitors about the society’s judgmental mindset.
“Just because a girl wears a bikini or smooches on screen, the world promptly forms an opinion about her,” said a teary-eyed Mallika.
The show, which is anchored by actor-filmmaker Ronit Roy, will soon have Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan as a celebrity guest.
Ravi will test the physical stamina of the contestants by involving them in desi sports such as kabbadi.
